Fresno firefighters battled a large blaze Monday afternoon that caused significant damage to a vacant home on the 1200 block of West Vassar Avenue.

According to the Fresno Fire Department, crews responded just before 1 p.m. on October 13, 2025, after multiple 911 calls reported heavy smoke in the area. When firefighters arrived, they found thick smoke and flames pouring from a boarded-up, vacant residence.

Crews Entered Rescue Mode

Initial reports indicated that someone might be inside the structure. Firefighters immediately went into rescue mode and called for a second alarm, bringing in additional units to assist with the search and containment.

No one was found inside, and no injuries were reported, officials said.

Cause Under Investigation

The blaze was brought under control after intensive efforts, but the home sustained extensive damage throughout the structure.
Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
